
Overview
The Olin E. Teague Veterans’ Center is a 802-bed medical center
with Medical, Surgical, and Extended Care Services. It contains a 120-bed
Nursing Home Care Unit and a 408-bed Domiciliary Unit. It is located
on 185 acres in Temple and includes almost 70 buildings.
The Medical
Center is closely affiliated with the Texas A & M University System
Health Science Center and, together with Scott & White, provides
the clinical training to medical students in the College of Medicine.
It also participates in Texas A & M – Scott & White residency
training programs in general surgery, orthopedics, internal medicine,
radiology, urology, ophthalmology, anesthesiology, and in fellowships
in medical sub-specialties.
The Center maintains a mental hygiene clinic, and specialized programs
in substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder. |
Details
This project consisted of an eight-story, 347,000 SF bed replacement
wing, energy plant, relocation of existing chapel building, site
utilities including steam tunnel, fire protection, HVAC systems,
and plumbing systems to the VA Hospital.
The Mechanical Systems included
an upgraded central plant with two 800-ton chillers, two cooling
towers, steam boilers, and various pumps. The Mechanical
Systems in the replacement wing consisted of 36 air handling units,
medical gas systems, medical vacuum system, 1200 VAV air terminals
with reheat
coils, and plumbing systems for 600 patient rooms. |
