Overview The construction of WTA 115kV Substation at TA-6 involved constructing the entire 115kV switchyard, which included providing all equipment, installing a 56MVA transformer, control house, switchgear building, ground grid, and associated equipment.

Details The construction of the 115 kV WTA Substation for Los Alamos National Laboratory consisted of site preparation, fencing of the project site, concrete piers, foundations and vaults, duct bank, erection of switchyard structural steel, and construction of a pre-engineered metal control building. The electrical equipment installed includes a 56 MVA, 115 kV power transformer, three 115 kV SF6 gas circuit breakers, ten 115 kV switches, a 16’ x 52’ walk-in switchgear house, which weighs in excess of 90,000 lbs., and a 115 kV overhead aluminum ring bus.
