
Overview
The Albuquerque International Sunport was expanded to its present size
in the late 1980’s and again in 1996. In 2002 the Sunport handled
6,117,646 passengers, and on the four runways there were 254,874
takeoffs and landings, or an average of 698 per day. GARDNER ZEMKE
performed runway reconstruction and new terminal additions.
Reconstruction of Runway 12-30 – This project
involved the removal of the existing runway and taxiway lighting signs,
and NAVAIDS associated with Runway 12-30 and the installation
of new signs, lights, and NAVAIDS.

Reconstruction
of Runway 8-26 – This project
included underground duct banks, manholes, taxiway and runway
edge lights
(concrete encased base
cans), in-pavement,
semi-flush lights, guidance signs, new south vault, and modification
of existing north vault. Also included was complete Electrical
and Mechanical work for runway 8-26 and associated taxiways.

Reconstruction and Lengthening
of Runway 3-21 – The work on
this project included complete Electrical, the underground duct
banks, manholes, taxiway and runway edge lights (concrete encased
base cans),
in-pavement, semi-flush lights, and guidance signs for Runway 3-21
and associated taxiways.
Contract Amount: $ 4,564,514 (Electrical)
Albuquerque International
Airport Terminal – This project
involved the demolition and remodeling and new construction of
the Albuquerque
International Airport Main Terminal Building, which included
complete utility, plumbing, HVAC, controls, and fire protection.
