Overview The Traffic Operations Center for the Arizona Department of Transportation, was originally proposed for the sole purpose of housing the Freeway Management System, but it was not long before the building’s full potential was realized. The I-10 Deck Tunnel Monitoring System including all cameras, loop detectors, and other monitoring equipment, as well as fire detection monitoring, lighting, and ventilation fan operations are now remotely monitored and operated from the control room in this Center.

Details The electrical subcontract work required installation and testing of a computer-based tunnel management system with fiber optic data link to control traffic signals, lighting, variable message signs, incident and fire detection, closed-circuit television, carbon monoxide monitoring, life safety systems, and multiplex radio control systems. Work also included indoor medium voltage switchgear, diesel emergency generators, power distribution systems, and outdoor roadway lighting including high-mast lighting.
